Kendrick 2210B Bass Amplifier
Hand built Vintage Bass Guitar Combo Amplifier
We are the ex-distributor of Kendrick Amplifiers in Singapore. This Amplifier is
from our original inventory brought directly from the Kendrick factory in USA.
This version is no longer available, especially in new unused condition. It is
the last piece left in our ex-stock, so once sold, it would be difficult to find
another one like this again. Please check the high-resolution images to
appreciate this work-of-art.
To date we have sold only genuine high-end guitars, amplifiers and accessories - Rickenbacker, Heritage, Patrick Eggle, Blade Levinson, Kendrick,
VHT Amplification, Hi-Mu Amplifiers, and THD Electronics with
positive results. Please check feedback for assurance.
This special edition Kendrick amp, designed specially
for bass, sounds at least 3 times bigger than it looks. Built with a massive
power supply, it provides a loud clear 60 watts with a tonal range that combines
the broad woody resonance of an acoustic bass with the roundness, depth, and
definition of a concert grand piano. Perfect for recording and live performance.
Two ten-inch Kendrick Bass Speakers, with massive 60 oz. magnets, deliver
fullness and bottom end not usually associated with open back designs.
All amps are hand wired point to point with cloth
covered wire on brass eyeleted epoxy glass component board. There are never any
printed circuit boards in anything we build. Printed circuit boards are
co-planar, so the circuit would see small capacitances between traces even
though they are not on the schematic. High frequencies would then leak out of
the signal path which results in a dry tone. In a point to point layout, nothing
is co-planar, therefore nothing gets lost. All of our transformers are hand
wound directly on paper. Only the paper insulates the windings. This results in
a rich tone and thick low end, and much greater efficiency. It is interesting to note that all transformers were
wound this way in the 50's and early 60's. Kendrick amplifiers have special
vacuum tubes, many of which are new old stock American military grade or new
Russian military grade for optimum performance, reliability, and tonal
characteristics. Of course, the combo amps are equipped with Kendrick Black
frame speakers. When you play a Kendrick for the first time, the first thing you
are likely to notice is the dynamic response. This amps can be very percussive.
Cabinetry is solid pine with finger-jointed construction
for strength and for ultimate tone not found in ordinary
plywood cabinets. The chassis is 16 gauge, annealed, cold rolled steel
with welded corners and doubled thickness around the power transformer. It is
triple plated with copper, nickel and chrome, in that order.
Each cabinet features floating baffle board design with open back cabinet for
woody resonance. It comes with classic aged tweed covering and leather handle.
A ground switch, 3 amp fuse, power switch, standby
switch, indicator pilot light, normal volume control, bright volume control;
treble, bass, middle tone controls, presence control and four inputs are all
located on the top panel. Two inputs are for each channel. Number 1 inputs are
for high gain while number 2 inputs are low gain.
The amp also feature the exclusive Kendrick footswitchable effects loop. In
addition to the usual send and return jacks, the loop also provides a tube
driven extra gain stage with volume control. The extra gain stage can be used
three different ways. First, as a unity gain control, second, as an active
master volume and third, as a pre-set volume boost for punching up solos. The
extra gain stage does not color the sound in any way, but does provide the kind
of flexibility not found in vintage amps.
On the bottom of the chassis you will find a "send" jack and a "return" jack
(marked S and R respectively) for using outboard line level effects processors,
reverb, etc. Also there is a slide switch to put the effects loop in or out of
the circuit. The switch is marked "+" for on and "-" for off. There is also a
footswitch jack (marked FS) to plug in the included footswitch. This footswitch
is used to switch the effects loop in or out of the circuit; however, the manual
switch must be in the "-" position for the footswitch to be functional. If the
under chassis switch is in the "+" position, the footswitch will be
non-functional. The effects loop, when switched out of the circuit, restores the
amp to identical vintage 1959 specifications. When the effects loop is in the
circuit, there is an extra gain stage after the return jack - to bring any
returned signal back up to unity, (if the effects device returns a signal of
less than unity.) The volume of the extra gain stage in the effects loop return
is controlled by a volume knob on the bottom of the chassis (marked VOL). If you
are not using effects, you may want to use this extra gain stage as a footswitch
controlled boost circuit.
Located also on the bottom of the chassis near the
footswitch jack is a pre-amp out jack (marked PO). This output is can be used to
drive another slave power cabinet.
