                      EXCEPTIONAL 2007 GIBSON WESTERN CLASSIC PREWAR 200

Selling from my personal collection this one of a kind custom build 2007 Gibson Western Classic Prewar 200. A product of the Gibson Custom Shop, of Bozeman Montana.   MSRP $7,514.00

While the standard Western Classic is made up of East Indian Rosewood back and sides, a Sitka Spruce top, a Flamed Maple neck and gold Waverly tuning machines, the upgrades and changes to this custom build include: 1) An Adirondack Spruce top with Adirondack scalloped prewar bracing pattern, 2) A Mahogany neck and 3) nickel Waverly tuners instead of gold.  It also had a Gibson installed L.R. Baggs pickup that has since been removed and replaced with a Colosi bone endpin plug. Looks great, also has a Colosi bone strap pin in the Taylor spot and Colosi Elephant ivory bridgepins and a bone nut and saddle.

The Western Classic Prewar 200 is Gibson's limited top of the line acoustic second only to their $24,000 MSRP SJ-250 Monarch.

The Western Classic Prewar 200 is an exact replica of the 1937 original made for singing cowboy Ray Whitley.  Unlike most SJ-200's with back and sides made of maple, The Western Classic Prewar 200 has premium Indian Rosewood back and sides which makes for a deeper tone with more sustain.  While the standard Western Classic comes with a Sitka spruce top, the Adirondack Spuce top and Adirondack arched prewar scalloped internal bracing used on this custom build (and referred to by luthiers and guitar makers as the HOLY GRAIL of guitar top woods) the Adirondack spruce produces a much livelier and more responsive top for the absolute best frequency response.  This is a spectacular sounding guitar. One of the best Gibson acoustics I've ever heard.

The two Indian Rosewood back pieces are beautifully matched and joined by a piece of three rope marquetry.  The neck is solid Mohagoney and slightly slimmer than the bulky standard maple.  The neck is joined to the body by the special Gibson dovetail joint which virtually makes the guitar one piece of wood for the best tranference of the string vibrations to the sound chamber. 

The Western Classic Prewar 200 has a tri-burst sunburst, just like the 1937 Ray Whitley model it's patterned after and generously decked out in mother of pearl accents including:  large block position markers along the fretboard, a special "torch" inlay on the headstock used on the 1910 Gibson Mandolin, as well as a period correct vintage Gibson name logo, four large inlays in the pierced mustache bridge- tailpiece and a bound Ray Whitley-style tortoise pickguard.

The scale length is 25 1/2 and width at the nut is 1.725"

As to the condition ... Other than scratches only on the pickguard from careful strumming the guitar is flawless and has absolutely zero issues.  It is as close to new condition as a guitar can be and has been stored in its case in a smoke free humidity and temp controlled music room.

The factory Gibson hardshell case is included and is also in mint condition.
