Guitar Wolf

For sale is a genuine 1961 Gibson ES355 in player's condition (not for collectors). Amazing to play as it is all set up correctly. It sounds and plays just as well as my two collectors Gibson semis.

The issues are a resprayed front of the guitar, a refret not very carefully done I must add but plays great, one pickup is a 60's serial number and the other is a modern classic 57 PAF. There are a few cracks in the binding which I tried to photograph. The respray is rather thick (possibly to cover the removal of the vibrato arm) which means the wood grain doesn't show quite as much as it would on an original finish. The finish on the rest of the guitar is well worn but has a great vibe. The case is a rough, 1970's Gibson hard case. This is all reflected in the very reasonable price. It could be a candidate for refinishing or just a great utility instrument which is the way I used it.

Very light for one of these, easily under 9 pounds I would guess.

I added some photos - I hope it shows the general well worn condition and checking of the original finish - 40291 is the serial number which in 1961 was on the back of the headstock and in the f hole. I didn't mention that as well as the pickups, the bridge, string stop and pickguard are replacements. As I said, it is all reflected in the price.
